Care Philosophy

Dr. Vafa Shayani is the Medical Director of UChicago Medicine Advent Health Bolingbrook's Bariatric Surgery program. He received his medical degree from George Washington University, in Washington DC, and completed general surgical residency and an additional year of concentrated training, in advanced laparoscopy, at George Washington University. Dr. Shayani is an active member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons and is the immediate past chairman of the Membership Committee. Dr. Shayani is proud to be listed in Castle Connolly’s 2022 Top Doctors, as featured in Chicago Magazine. Dr. Shayani has a very active practice of both surgical and endoscopic bariatric interventions at the Bolingbrook hospital which has been recognized as a Bariatric Center of Excellence for many years. Dr. Shayani is passionate about helping individuals achieve a healthier lifestyle. His success stems from his years of experience and the desire to help patients with individualized compassionate care.
