Expertise of Tell Copening, MD, FAAFP

Biography: Tell Copening, MD, FAAFP, is an experienced family physician with AdventHealth Medical Group. He is Board-certified in family medicine and his background also includes work in occupational medicine and emergency medicine. He earned his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine and completed his residency at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. He served as a major in the US Air Force, where he was co-director of the family practice residency program at Scott Air Force Base.
Dr. Copening’s extensive clinical and administrative leadership has included service as president of the Kansas Academy of Family Physicians, chief of staff at Allen County Hospital and president of the Great Plains Occupational Medicine Society. For more than thirty years, he served as aviation medical examiner for the Federal Aviation Administration, and he is a charter fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians (FAAFP).
Dr. Copening and his wife, Vicki, live in Olathe and enjoy being active in their church and spending time with their two adult daughters.
