Biography

Rahila Essani, MD, FACS, FASCRS, is board-certified colorectal surgeon. Dr. Essani earned her medical degree from the Aga Khan University Medical College in Karachi, Pakistan. She completed three research fellowships at the University of Southern California, where she also completed her internship and residency in surgery. She finished a second residency in general surgery. She completed her colorectal surgery fellowship program at Grant Medical Center, Ohio. She also completed a fellowship in advanced management of rectal cancer at Lankenau Hospital, PA. Dr. Essani developed the rectal cancer program and the robotic general and colorectal program at Baylor Scott and White Clinic in Temple, Texas. She serves on both SAGES and ASCRS (colorectal, program and fundamentals of rectal cancer surgery committee). Dr. Essani is the author of numerous papers published in peer-reviewed medical journals.
