Dr. Abela is a board-certified cardiologist who is dual sub-specialized in Interventional cardiology and advanced heart failure. He has a special interest in mechanism of plaque rupture involving cholesterol crystals, streamlining care in acute myocardial infarction, high risk PCI, chronic total occlusion PCI, cardiogenic shock, mechanical circulatory support, right ventricular dysfunction, and structural heart disease including percutaneous ASD/PFO closure, TAVR, MitraClip, and left atrial appendage closure. Dr. Abela is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, diplomat of the National Board of Echocardiography, and also holds a certification from the National Lipid Association. Dr. Abela serves as the director of echocardiography for the AHMG Carrollwood and Tampa clinics, committee member for the AHMG cardiology governance, and the director of advanced heart failure administration. Dr. Abela is a down-to-Earth physician who provides elite care to his patients through the broad, in-depth training he has completed.
