Michael DeFrain, MD, FACS, is an expert physician specializing in cardiovascular and thoracic surgery. Dr. DeFrain is board-certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and provides expert care to patients ages 18 and older, compassionately attending to their every need as if they were a member of his own family. Dr. DeFrain earned his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine and completed his residency in cardiovascular and thoracic surgery at the Texas Heart Institute and MD Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. DeFrain understands that surgical needs, especially in cardiothoracic care, are among the most complex in medicine. His calling to the field is deeply connected to the responsibility he feels to deliver high quality care with expert skill, backed by more than 20 years of experience.
