Maria T. Espiritu, APRN

Drawn to cardiology by her desire to make a difference in people's lives, Maria Theresa Espiritu, APRN, connects patients to technology, innovation and research to provide excellent and personalized care.

Board certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, Maria Theresa received her master’s degree in nursing from Purdue University Global in Chicago, Illinois and her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA in Manila, Philippines. She has over 25 years of extensive medical experience, serving as a staff nurse in intensive care and emergency, a cardiology rounding nurse, and as a charge nurse in the cardiac progressive care and orthopedic units.

As a lead for the AdventHealth Heart Success Center, Maria Theresa provides heart care for adult patients ages 18 and older. Her commitment to excellence in patient care has earned her recognition as a Nurse of the Year by AdventHealth Sebring and she is a member of the AdventHealth Pneumonia Committee.

When she isn’t caring for her patients, Maria Theresa enjoys watching Korean dramas and cooking.

She believes that as your nurse practitioner, it's important for her to establish a relationship by listening to your concerns and understanding your perspective to make collaborative decisions about your health.

With a focus on patient education, Maria Theresa will work with you to manage your symptoms and prevent the exacerbation of symptoms that can lead to hospital readmission. Her goal is to help you comply with your treatment, and she coordinates care with other healthcare disciplines to ensure that you are on the path to good health and a better quality of life.
