Biography

Dr. Del Rio is a board-certified, Ivy League-educated anesthesiologist and critical care physician who specializes in providing cardiothoracic anesthesia in the operating room and cardiothoracic surgical critical care in the cardiothoracic intensive care unit. This includes providing intraoperative transesophageal echocardiography for cardiac surgical patients as well as perioperative evaluation and management of highly complex and critically ill patients. A native of Bogatá, Colombia, Dr. Del Rio moved to the US for his advanced subspecialty training, including a highly selective fellowship in anesthesia, pain and critical care medicine at Harvard Medical School and another in cardiothoracic anesthesia at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation. He is a leading physician in his field who has authored numerous works in the medical literature and served as principal investigator for multiple clinical trials.
