Jesal Vipin Popat, MD

Dr. Jesal Popat is a South African born, board certified cardiologist practicing medicine in Tampa, Florida. He has authored several articles and publications on medicine and heart disease. His clinical practice focuses on prevention, interventional, structural, and vascular cardiology.

Dr. Popat graduate with honors with a degrees in Biology and Chemistry from the University of South Florida before attending the Morsani College of Medicine in Tampa, Florida. He completed his post-doctoral training in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship at Tampa General Hospital, Moffitt Cancer Center, and the James A. Haley VA hospitals.

Following his cardiology training, he remained at the University of South Florida for an advanced Interventional Fellowship where he learned state-of-the art coronary, vascular and structural techniques. Dr. Popat continues his clinical and hospital based practice with an emphasis on evidence-based medicine and research.

Dr. Popat has lectured both locally and nationally on topics including cardiac diseases, heart failure, and interventional cardiology. He devotes time to working with several local non-profit charities, including the Tampa Bay chapters of the American Heart Association and Best Buddies organizations. In his personal life, he enjoys spending time with his family, basketball, travel, and working on automobiles.
