Biography

James Edgar Cain, III, MD, is a family medicine doctor who's practiced medicine in Lampasas since 1998, and feels at home in rural central Texas. He found his true calling by returning to his rural roots and becoming a family doctor in a small town where he could grow close to his patients and their families.

Originally, Dr. Cain worked with internationally acclaimed surgeons at some of the largest medical facilities in the United States, but felt called to care for patients at AdventHealth Rural Family Medicine, where he believes patients benefit from a diverse group of providers with different experiences and personalities.

In his free time, Dr. Cain enjoys the outdoors by hunting, fishing and camping. He draws upon his creative side by playing the guitar, pursuing photography and collecting antiques. He's also interested in soil conservation and wildlife management.
