Biography

Hunter Moore, MD, PhD, is passionate about helping patients with major life-altering conditions return to health after a transformative operation. He finds great joy in seeing patients outside the hospital setting as they reflect on their journey back to a disease-free life.

Dr. Moore grew up in a family of physicians who cared for a wide range of patient populations, inspiring him from a young age to pursue a career in medicine. He was particularly drawn to caring for individuals with life-changing diagnoses, by not only treating these patients but finding new ways to improve their recoveries.

Dr. Moore received his medical degree from the University of Vermont. He went on to complete a general surgery residency and an abdominal transplant and hepatobiliary surgery fellowship at the University of Colorado, where he also received his PhD. His clinical practice includes the treatment of end-stage renal disease, cirrhosis and liver, pancreatic and renal cell cancers with vena cava thrombectomy and reconstruction. He also has clinical expertise in the management of acute bleeding and thrombosis disorders.

Dr. Moore is well regarded in the transplant community, having received multiple awards and grants, such as the Vanguard Prize and the Veloxis Fellowship in Transplantation Grant from the American Society of Transplant Surgeons. He is a National Institute of Health (NIH) funded researcher with over 200 publications.

Care Philosophy

Dr. Moore is passionate about helping patients with life-altering conditions return to health after a transformative operation. He believes that one of the greatest aspects of transplantation is seeing the immediate feedback of a successful operation with the return of organ function. But he also takes great joy in seeing patients outside the hospital setting as they reflect on their journey back to a disease-free life. His passion is to be there along the way to ensure that outcome, no matter the ups or downs along the way to recovery.
