Dorothea Erwin, CNM

Dorothea Lorell Erwin MSN, CNM, FNP, is a nurse-midwife who provides primary care for women and birthing people across their lifespans, including prenatal, birth and postpartum care. She is a birth attendant with a special focus on physiologic birth and labor support. She also provides gynecological care, contraceptive care, family planning, menopausal and transgender health care. She is skilled in mood disorders, providing emotional support and other mental health treatment.

Dorothea listens to and partners with her patients to achieve their health goals. She loves attending births and feels incredibly blessed to be present when new life comes into the world and families grow.

Dorothea received her post-master's certificate in Midwifery from the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing from the Family Nurse Practitioner Program at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Northern Colorado. She is a member of the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM).

When not caring for patients, Dorothea enjoys playing outdoors in Colorado with her partner, their three kids and their dog. She loves to bike, ski, hike, golf, garden, play music and dance any chance she gets.

Dorothea is passionate about supporting physiologic birth and partnering with birthing people and families during their pregnancy and birth journey. She advocates for birth equity and reproductive justice and believes that access to excellent care and choices are basic rights of all members of the community. She believes the patient is the expert in the room and is there to support and guide them to the healthiest and happiest version of themselves.
