David Gay, MD

David Gay, MD, is a board-certified upper extremity orthopedic surgeon and specializes in disorders of the shoulder, elbow and wrist. He earned his medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in Columbia, SC. Dr. Gay completed his orthopedic residency at the University of Florida Health Science Center in Jacksonville, FL, he then completed a hand and upper extremity fellowship at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, NY, followed by a shoulder and elbow fellowship at the Melbourne Shoulder and Elbow Centre in Melbourne, Australia. Dr. Gay, who most recently served as an orthopedic surgeon and the director of orthopedics at Flagler Health in St. Augustine, FL, is returning to AdventHealth, where he previously served in Palm Coast for over a decade. Dr. Gay is the author of numerous publications in professional journals and presentations at international conferences. He is dedicated to providing whole-person care to each of his patients, considering body, mind and spirit.

My goal in medicine is to get patients back to participating in the activities they enjoy with the least intrusive treatment possible. In orthopedic surgery we are fortunate that scientific progress has created solutions for the majority of issues that affect an individual’s quality of life. It is an honor to be able to get patients back to doing the things that bring joy to their lives whether it be sports or just spending time with loved ones.
