David Buxton, MD

Dr. Buxton is one of only a few physicians in the country with triple board certification in adult psychiatry, child psychiatry and palliative care. As our Executive Medical Director of Palliative Care, he is passionate about helping patients and their families through symptom management, psychological support, and a focus on quality of life and goals of care. An Emory University graduate, he earned his medical degree at Virginia Commonwealth University and completed an adult psychiatry residency at Brown University followed by consecutive fellowships in child and adolescent psychiatry and palliative and hospice care at Harvard University. Through his many leadership positions in academics, private and startup health care systems, he has developed an unique perspective on the biopsychosocial implications of serious illness in healthcare.
