Dr. Charlene T. Robertson is board certified in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism, as well as in internal medicine. She specializes in the effective management of diabetes and has advanced training in geriatric medicine. Her areas of interest also include thyroid disease and metabolic bone disease.

Dr. Robertson received her medical degree at St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies, in 2005. While there, she was awarded two scholarships for academic excellence. Dr. Robertson completed a residency in internal medicine at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York and had a fellowship in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism from the same institution. In 2010, she underwent a one-year fellowship in geriatric medicine, also at SUNY. As part of her education, Dr. Robertson became certified in thyroid ultrasonography and biopsies and densitometry. This specialized training allows Dr. Robertson to diagnose and treat thyroid cancer and to accurately interpret bone density in order to design effective treatment plans for patients with osteoporosis.

She worked on the Support, Health Information, Nutrition and Exercise (SHINE) study, a five-year trial based on the Diabetes Prevention Program model. SHINE was conducted at primary care sites and sought through education; exercise and nutrition to help patients with impaired glucose tolerance lose weight and reduce their progression to diabetes.

Dr. Robertson is a member of the American College of Physicians, The Endocrine Society and the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists.
