Biography

William K. Cornwell III, MD, MSCS, FAHA, is a board-certified cardiologist whose work includes sports and exercise cardiology, altitude and environmental medicine, cardiopulmonary exercise testing, heart failure, long COVID-19, syncope and dyspnea on exertion. Dr. Cornwell earned his medical degree from Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine, followed by residency at the University of Michigan Health System, and cardiology and advanced heart failure/LVAD/ cardiac transplant fellowships at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. He also completed a postdoctoral cardiovascular research fellowship at the Institute for Exercise and Environmental Medicine in Dallas, Texas. He has published several studies on topics including sports and exercise science, altitude and environmental physiology, Long COVID and heart failure, and served on several writing committees for guideline statements for the AHA and ACC.
