Thomas Mann, MD

Thomas Mann, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and fellowship-trained sports medicine specialist. He cares for patients with shoulder and knee conditions, including rotator cuff tears, shoulder arthritis, shoulder instability, ACL injuries, meniscus tears, patellar instability, and other sports-related injuries. His procedural focus includes shoulder replacement, arthroscopic shoulder surgery, arthroscopic knee surgery, and fracture care involving the shoulder and knee. Dr. Mann brings a patient-centered perspective shaped by both his training and personal experience. His early childhood orthopedic condition and later injuries and surgeries gave him a firsthand understanding of the recovery process and the value of restoring mobility. Dr. Mann earned his orthopedic surgery residency at Penn State University Hospital - Hershey Medical Center and a sports medicine fellowship at The Ohio State University in Columbus. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the American Orthopedic Society of Sports Medicine.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Mann enjoys biking, hiking, kayaking, swimming, running, reading, and travel. He follows many sports, especially soccer, and participates in the occasional sprint triathlon. He also enjoys woodworking and has built a wooden kayak.

Dr. Mann believes patients do best when they understand their condition and treatment options. He takes time to explain the why behind each recommendation and uses nonoperative treatment first whenever appropriate, reserving surgery for cases where it is needed.
