Scott Herbert, MD

Cancer is a life-changing diagnosis that challenges patients and their families to reevaluate their priorities and live with greater purpose. Dr. Herbert considers it a privilege to support patients through this deeply meaningful process. Dr. Herbert specializes in gastrointestinal and genitourinary oncology, melanoma, breast cancer, and lymphoma. He is double board-certified in Hematology and Oncology, providing expert, compassionate care across a wide range of cancer types. His academic interests include the interaction between cancer and the immune system, emotional complementary medicine, and the use of health care information technology to enhance patient outcomes. Dr. Herbert earned his BA in Biology from Illinois Wesleyan University and his medical degree from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and his Hematology/Oncology fellowship at Indiana University. He also holds an MBA from the University of New Mexico Anderson School of Management, further strengthening his leadership and systems-based approach to care.

Dr. Herbert aims to balance evidence-based medicine with the reality that every patient, every situation, and every cancer is unique and deserves personalized care. He understands deeply that cancer affects the patient as well as their family, and tries to incorporate patients' personal goals into treatment decisions.
