Melissa Buchanan, APRN

Melissa Buchanan is a dual board-certified nurse practitioner with a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree, specializing in cardiovascular care and family practice. Born in Oklahoma and raised in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Florida State University before completing both her Master of Nursing and Doctor of Nursing Practice at the University of Miami.

Melissa is an Associate of the American College of Cardiology and serves as a sub-investigator with the AdventHealth Research Institute, contributing to groundbreaking advancements in cardiovascular health. She has actively participated in numerous quality improvement projects and is a recipient of the prestigious National Lipid Scholarship Program.

Her dedication to the advancement of healthcare extends beyond clinical practice, as she remains actively involved in multiple Advanced Practice Provider (APP) committees. Melissa’s passion lies in the primary and secondary prevention of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD), with a strong focus on lipid management to mitigate risk and improve patient outcomes.

Melissa loves spending time with her husband and children, whether at the pool or meeting the characters at Disney with other family and friends. She is an advocate for lifestyle changes, including the preparation of healthy meals and desserts. She’s been honing her baking skills to make the best chocolate chip cookies, ever.

Melissa believes in taking a team approach to managing chronic health conditions. She educates patients on their disease progression as well as preventive measures they can apply on a daily basis.
