Luke S Oh, MD, MS

Dr. Luke Oh is the Medical Director of Orthopedic Sports Medicine at AdventHealth Orthopedic Institute and Head Team Physician for the Orlando Magic.

He is a renowned surgeon, medical educator, research scientist, entrepreneur and innovator. He is a triple-fellowship trained, board certified Sports Medicine Orthopedic Surgeon.

After residency at the Hospital for Special Surgery, Dr. Oh completed multiple subspecialty fellowships including Sports Medicine & Arthroscopy at Mass General, Shoulder & Elbow Surgery at the Mayo Clinic, and an apprenticeship with Dr. James Andrews to master the techniques for Tommy John surgery for pro baseball players.

Dr. Oh spent 14 years as a full-time faculty member at Harvard Medical School and Mass General, and is the Emeritus Program Director of the Harvard-MGH Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Fellowship who received the 2022 Golden Apple Teacher of the Year Award from the Harvard Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program. He was also a team physician for the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, New England Revolution, Boston Bruins and Harvard University for over 12 years.

His clinical and research interests include treatment of shoulder & elbow injuries in the throwing athlete, rotator cuff tears, ACL rupture, meniscus tears, and osteochondritis dissecans. Dr. Oh's current research includes, artificial intelligence for diagnosis and treatment in orthopedics, biomechanical investigation of various surgical techniques, and tissue engineering to improve healing of the rotator cuff, biceps, ACL, and meniscus.

Dr. Oh's clinical reputation and cutting-edge research have garnered national and international recognition.He was the recipient of the 2021 American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons Research Grant Award to investigate the role of collagen telopeptides in the healing of rotator cuff tears.In 2018, the New England Baseball Journal named Dr. Oh in their Most Influential People list. His research team also won the ESSKA Best Upper Extremity Paper that year. In 2016, he was awarded the ICSES Best Oral Poster Presentation Award for research on shoulder & elbow biomechanics of the softball fastpitch. In 2015, Dr. Oh was one of three surgeons selected for the AOSSM Traveling Fellowship to Asia. In 2010, Dr. Oh won the ASES Mel Post Award for Excellence in Clinical Research. In 2009, he was a member of the MGH research team that received the AOSSM O'Donoghue Sports Injury Award for a biomechanical study of ligament reconstruction on knee joint function.
