Lee Ying, MD, PhD

Lee Ying, MD, PhD, is a board-certified General Surgeon with five years of experience specializing in minimally invasive and robotic techniques. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from the Yale School of Medicine and his PhD in Pharmacology from the Yale Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. Dr. Ying completed his General Surgery Residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he served as Chief Resident and pioneered a new surgical simulation curriculum. He remained at Yale-New Haven Hospital to complete his fellowship in Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery, while also serving as a Clinical Instructor. Dr. Ying’s clinical practice focuses on inguinal, incisional, and ventral hernias, gallbladder disease, foregut and esophageal disorders (including hiatal and paraesophageal hernias), as well as complex abdominal wall reconstruction. Dr. Ying has authored several papers and book chapters and presented nationally on surgical outcomes, bariatric surgery, and metabolic disease.

Outside of medicine, my favorite ways to spend time are running, exploring the local restaurant scene, and visiting the theme parks with my family.
