Biography

Edward Jacob Prange, MD, is a general and bariatric surgeon with more than five years of surgical training and clinical experience. He earned his medical degree from West Virginia University School of Medicine in Morgantown/Charleston, WV, and completed general surgery residency training at UF Health Jacksonville College of Medicine in Jacksonville, FL. Dr. Prange completed fellowship training in bariatric surgery at ECU Health in Greenville, NC. His academic work includes peer-reviewed publications and video presentations focused on bariatric surgery, complex hernia repair and acute surgical care. Dr. Prange has received multiple resident honors, including the Resident Educator Award, Surgical Clinical Excellence Award and Edward Jelks Outstanding Resident Clinician of the Year Award at UF Health Jacksonville.

My philosophy of care is to provide compassionate, patient-centered treatment using minimally invasive techniques whenever appropriate. I strive to treat every patient with the same respect and attention I would want for my own family. As a bariatric surgeon, I view obesity as a complex, chronic disease that deserves individualized, evidence-based treatment rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. I take the time to understand each patient’s goals and work with them to develop a treatment plan that may include surgical, medical, endoscopic, nutritional, or lifestyle changes. Whether treating metabolic disease or a general surgical condition, my goal is for patients to feel heard and actively involved in their treatment options. Ultimately, I aim to improve both the health and quality of life of every patient I treat.
