Edward J. Southard, MD, FAAOS

Edward J. Southard, MD, FAAOS, is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in shoulder and elbow care. He treats patients ages 6 and older and is dedicated to helping individuals stay active and mobile through personalized, patient-centered treatment. Dr. Southard earned his medical degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. He completed residency training in Surgery at New York Medical College-Westchester Medical Center, followed by Orthopaedic Surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College/Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center, where he served as Chief Resident. He then completed the prestigious Shoulder and Elbow Fellowship at the Florida Orthopaedic Institute in Tampa, where he trained under nationally recognized experts and further expanded his experience in orthopaedic trauma and sports medicine. Dr. Southard is a fellow member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and a candidate member of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) and Orthopaedic Trauma Association (OTA). Before joining AdventHealth, he also served as a commissioned o¬cer in the United States Air Force. His clinical interests include shoulder and elbow arthritis, rotator cuff injuries, arthroscopy, sports injuries, fractures, and comprehensive general orthopedic care. He is fluent in English and Spanish.

In his free time, Dr. Southard enjoys staying active, teaching and playing lacrosse, spending time on the water, learning to golf, and enjoying the outdoors with his family and dog.
