Colleen Berenguer, NP

Colleen Berenguer, NP, is a compassionate nurse practitioner dedicated to providing comprehensive, evidence-based care focused on prevention, long-term wellness and helping patients navigate both acute and chronic health conditions. With a clinical background rooted in cardiovascular critical care, she brings advanced expertise in managing complex medical conditions while emphasizing personalized primary care that supports each patient’s overall quality of life. Colleen’s path into medicine was shaped by personal loss after the death of her husband at a young age. That experience inspired her to immerse herself in the study of medicine and pursue a career centered on meaningful, long-term patient relationships. While she thrives in the intellectual challenges of cardiovascular intensive care, she finds the greatest fulfillment in caring for patients across all stages of life and helping them achieve lasting health and functional well-being. Colleen earned bachelor’s degrees in Spanish and Applied Linguistics from Colorado State University before obtaining her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Idaho State University and her Family Nurse Practitioner degree from Georgetown University. She is board certified in family medicine by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and holds a Colorado Level One Accreditation in Occupational Medicine. Her clinical interests include diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, coronary artery disease, heart failure, arrhythmia management, preventive care, occupational injuries, gender-affirming care and treatment of perimenopause. She also performs a variety of procedures, including incision and drainage, laceration repair, joint and trigger point injections, IUD removal, cerumen removal, Pap smears, point-of-care ultrasound and interpretation of advanced cardiac monitoring.

Outside of caring for patients, Colleen enjoys making homemade yogurt, kombucha and hot sauces, playing piano and hiking with her son strapped to her back.

Guided by the principle of cura personalis, or care for the whole person, Colleen focuses on prevention, early intervention and helping patients maintain long-term health, independence and safe return to daily activities.
