Building Whole Health in Colorado’s Front Range
Our AdventHealth hospitals in the metro Denver area live our mission of Extending the Healing Ministry of Christ by serving our community beyond the walls of our facilities.
Our community benefit programs look to meet the needs of the area, caring for our neighbors’ physical, mental, social and spiritual health. We want our presence as health care providers to bring wellness to the greater community through initiatives that help our neighbors feel whole in body, mind and spirit.
We’re committed to growing deep roots into the Rocky Mountains, the place we all call home.
The Power of a Nationwide Network Combined With a Local Focus
-
Community Programs
Our community health programs are driven by our desire to extend whole-person healing outside our buildings. Because caring for our patients’ whole health in body, mind and spirit impacts the communities around them, we desire to shape the areas we serve with care to embrace the whole community.
-
Community Health Needs Assessments and Plans
Every three years, we conduct community health needs assessments (CHNAs) to determine how we can help improve the lives of people who live near our hospitals. These assessments guide our plans and programming.

Our Local Programs and Initiatives
Every three years, we conduct community health needs assessments (CHNAs) to determine the major needs in our area. We use this data to develop a Community Health Plan for each hospital to improve residents’ health through education, research, financial assistance, special programs and spiritual resources.
Our region’s primary focus is behavioral health, including mental health care and substance use prevention. We’re working to provide resources, raise awareness and reduce the stigma surrounding these vital issues. Our initiatives are designed to ensure people receive the compassionate support they need, creating a safer environment for everyone.
- Zero Suicide
-
Delivering whole-person care to our patients extends beyond physical well-being to encompass their mental and spiritual health. Sobering data shows that Colorado ranks in the top 10 states with the highest suicide rate.
With a grant awarded through the Colorado Department of Public Health and Education, we are committed to our Zero Suicide initiative and aim to decrease suicide deaths in our communities.
The Zero Suicide team has been able to enhance:
- Patient Outreach: The team conducted outreach phone calls to approximately 1,370 patients who were discharged from our hospitals with a behavioral health concern.
- Senior Care: The team developed GeriActives program, an online socialization group for seniors that meets weekly. New members are always welcome.
- GriefShare: The team established a weekly, in-person support group at AdventHealth Porter for community members experiencing grief. New members are always welcome.
- No One Dies Alone
-
No One Dies Alone (NODA) is a program that offers companionship and support to patients who are nearing the end of life. NODA provides a dignified death to individuals who have no family or close friends to sit with them at the end of life. Through this program at AdventHealth Parker, we can provide a compassionate presence for patients, ensuring they’re not alone.
- YANA: Changing the World One Mama at a Time
-
YANA was born in 2017 after two Douglas County tragedies changed the trajectory of motherhood in our community. Two moms took their lives and the lives of their children. Our mission is to change the world one mama at a time, ensuring that no mom ever feels alone.
We believe all moms deserve to feel safe, accepted and valued. Our programs strive to give all moms in our community the support they need.
- Brother Jeff Foundation
-
The Brother Jeff Foundation assists low-income families with financial training and connects them with financial resources.
- Meals on Wheels
-
Food security is critical for both physical and mental health. We collaborate with Meals on Wheels to ensure that our communities have reliable access to nutritious and equitable food options. Meals on Wheels provides healthy nutritional meals in partnership with the community to increase food access points for at-risk seniors.
- Stable Housing
-
In addition to our focus on behavioral health, we recognize the essential roles that stable housing and food security play in a person’s overall health. Access to safe and affordable housing is a cornerstone of well-being, and we are actively working to increase housing opportunities within our communities.
