Building Whole Health in Kansas
Our AdventHealth Kansas hospitals strive to live out our mission of Extending the Healing Ministry of Christ well beyond the walls of our facilities.
Our community benefit programs look to meet the needs of the greater Kansas City area, caring for physical, mental, social and spiritual health. We want our presence as health care providers to bring wellness to the greater community through initiatives that help our neighbors feel whole in body, mind and spirit.
We’re growing deep roots in the local communities we call home.
The Power of a Nationwide Network Combined With a Local Focus
-
Community Programs
Our community health programs are driven by our desire to extend whole-person healing outside our buildings. Because caring for our patients’ whole health in body, mind and spirit impacts the communities around them, we desire to shape the areas we serve with care to embrace the whole community.
-
Community Health Needs Assessments and Plans
Every three years, we conduct community health needs assessments (CHNAs) to determine how we can help improve the lives of people who live near our hospitals. These assessments guide our plans and programming.

The health of people living in the same community can be very different due to many influencing factors. Our Community Health Plans, built on a three-year rolling cycle, outline how we respond to the identified priorities in our community. These priorities include health care access and quality, as well as mental health and cardiovascular disease.
A few of the programs that address the needs outlined in our Community Health Plan include the following:
- Produce Prescription Program: Fresh Rx
- New Haven Food Pantry Bus
- Dining with Diabetes
- Maternal Community Health Workers
- Healthy Heart Ambassadors
- Prepare for Parenthood With Confidence-Building Support

This monitored fitness program is for individuals who have graduated from outpatient pulmonary or cardiac rehab or who have a chronic health condition but may not feel comfortable exercising alone. Our qualified staff will monitor your vital signs and design a safe and effective workout plan for your condition. This socially connected environment helps to make exercise a lifestyle.
Our Partnerships Make Us Stronger
Our hospitals in the AdventHealth Kansas area contribute $263.7 million to our local communities every year.
We’re thankful to partner with leading organizations to bring care and health to the area. Our investment in the community includes programs or activities that provide treatment or promote health and healing as a response to identified community needs. These programs increase access to health care and improve overall community health, and we work with a range of community partners to help meet these needs.
