AdventHealth Apopka PGY1 Residents

Kris Persaud, PharmD

Hometown: Orlando, FL
Pharmacy School: South University School of Pharmacy (Savannah, GA)

Kris chose AdventHealth Apopka because the PGY-1 program offers broad clinical experience, a supportive learning environment, and hands-on training he needed to become a well-rounded pharmacist. After pharmacy school, he was ready to apply his knowledge in a more clinical role, and AdventHealth Apopka was the right place to strengthen his skills. He is most looking forward to working alongside experienced pharmacists and collaborating with other healthcare providers to provide excellent, patient-centered care. He wants to learn from their expertise and continue developing his clinical judgment for all patients. Outside of work, some of his hobbies include hanging out with my friends, playing basketball, and playing the drums. Although he is not new to the Orlando area, Kris still enjoys everything our city has to offer. In his free time, he likes visiting the theme parks, trying new restaurants, and spending time with family and friends. Following residency, Kris hopes to pursue a clinical pharmacist position where he can take on greater responsibility in managing complex patients and improving medication outcomes. His long-term goal is to continue growing within the profession while helping advance pharmacy practice and positively impact the community he serves.

Gustavo Enrique Ujaque Santiago, PharmD

Hometown: Moca, Puerto Rico
Pharmacy School: University of Florida

Gustavo chose AdventHealth for residency because of the diverse clinical rotations and learning opportunities the program offers. Through previous rotations within the AdventHealth system, he experienced firsthand the collaborative culture and supportive learning environment that promote both professional and personal growth. Those experiences reinforced his desire to continue his training at AdventHealth and further develop as a pharmacist. Gustavo is most excited to expand his clinical knowledge and learn from experienced preceptors throughout the year. Outside of work, Gustavo enjoys spending time with family and friends and staying active through exercise. He also enjoys learning about watches and appreciates collecting timepieces. Gustavo is not new to the Orlando area and looks forward to continuing to explore everything Central Florida has to offer. He enjoys trying new restaurants, visiting the theme parks, and attending Orlando Magic games. Gustavo's long-term goal is to become an inpatient clinical pharmacist. While he is still exploring whether a PGY2 is the right next step, he is excited to use his PGY1 year at AdventHealth Apopka to further develop his clinical skills and explore his interests in infectious diseases and cardiology.
