An IVF journey can bring hope, uncertainty and deep emotion all at once. For Anna Lowman, four rounds of in vitro fertilization became part of a bigger story: one of resilience, gratitude and whole-person care that supported her body, mind and spirit.
Keep reading to learn how Anna’s fertility journey helped her find joy in unexpected circumstances and a deeper appreciation for compassionate women’s health care.
An Unexpected Turn in Anna’s Journey
Anna has always dreamed of becoming a mom and felt a calling on her life to love, nurture and raise children. While she’s expecting her first biological baby, her journey isn’t what she expected.
The Hidden Blessing Amidst the Hardship
“I met my husband, I think, by some standards, a little bit later in life,” shared Anna. “I was 35 years old and became an instant bonus mom, which was amazing, but we always knew we wanted to grow our family; we just didn’t know that that would be a little bit more difficult than we thought it would be. So after four rounds of IVF, we are now expecting our first together.” For anyone navigating infertility or considering next steps, learning more about family planning and fertility support can help make the path forward feel clearer.
Becoming a mom after IVF isn’t what Anna would have expected, but it was the biggest blessing of her life. “I always tell people my life now maybe doesn’t look exactly like what I thought it would, but it’s better than I could have imagined. Going through a fertility journey is not easy, but I think being on the other side of it has given me an opportunity and a platform to help others. I just think everything happens for a reason.”
Serving as the Executive Director of Strategic Partnerships at AdventHealth, Anna has the opportunity to do more than just tell people about healthcare — through her job, and her IVF success story, she’s able to inspire hope and promote care that considers your complete well-being.
The Power of Whole-Person Care
Anna’s fertility journey with AdventHealth showed her the power of whole-person health: body, mind and spirit. Her care team understood that the best way they could care for her was to see the full picture of her health. Our team members knew that providing expert IVF care wasn’t enough to help Anna feel whole when life wasn’t going the way she’d planned. They met her where she was emotionally, showing her that whole-person care matters just as much as clinical care.
She gained a new understanding of the importance of mental health when going through a challenging time. Having loved ones and a compassionate care team around to support and uplift you makes all the difference in your health journey and enables you to cherish every blessing, despite the road traveled to get there. If you’re wondering whether fertility testing may be right for you, our guide to fertility tests you can request from your doctor can help you understand what to ask and when to start the conversation.
