Black Bean Hummus

This recipe provides a fresh twist on classic hummus by combining black beans with bold flavors for a delicious, nutrient-packed dip that’s rich in plant-based protein, fiber, and heart healthy fats. Perfect for pairing with raw vegetables, whole grain crackers, or spreading on sandwiches and wraps, it’s an easy way to add more wholesome, plant-forward foods to your everyday meals.

Recipe Ingredients

  • 1 (15-ounce) can black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons tahini
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon iodized sea salt
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1/4 cup crumbled feta

Preparation

  1. Combine all ingredients except for cilantro and feta in a food processor or blender and purée until smooth. Add water to thin, if necessary.
  2. Adjust seasonings to taste, transfer to a bowl, and garnish with cilantro and feta.
  3. Serve with whole grain crackers, whole wheat pita bread, and/or fresh cut vegetables like carrots, peppers, cucumbers, and radishes.
