Basic Quinoa

Simple Quinoa Recipe

This basic quinoa recipe provides a great base for veggie and protein dishes. Make it a complete meal by topping with chicken, fish or beans then drizzling a homemade dressing or sauce on top.

Serves: 4

Recipe Ingredients

  • 2 cups quinoa
  • 4 cups water or low sodium vegetable broth
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt

Preparation

  1. Place quinoa in a fine mesh strainer and rinse under running water. Drain well.
  2. Combine quinoa, water or broth, and salt together in a small saucepan. Bring toboil over medium-high heat, then decrease to simmer and cover with a lid.Without stirring, cook the quinoa about 15 to 20 minutes until all the water hasbeen absorbed. To check if all water has been absorbed, tilt pan at an angle tosee if any water is still at the bottom.
  3. When all water has been absorbed, turn off heat, remove lid, and fluff quinoawith a fork.
  4. Store in a sealed container in the fridge for 5 days or cool completely andfreeze for up to 3 months.
