Your Guide to Paid Parental Leave
- What's Included?
-
You receive up to 4 weeks of paid leave at 100% of your base pay to spend precious time with your new child — whether by birth or adoption. Both birth and non-birth parents are eligible, because every parent deserves time to connect.
- How It Works
-
- Paid Parental Leave starts after your child’s birth or adoption placement — or after short-term disability ends for birth parents.
- It must be taken in one continuous block within 12 months of your child’s arrival.
- If both parents work at AdventHealth, you can take leave together or stagger your time.
- This benefit runs alongside other leave programs like FMLA, so you’re fully supported.
- How Paid Parental Leave Works with Short-Term Disability
-
If you’re the birth parent and eligible for Short-Term Disability (STD), here’s how your time away typically flows:
- First: You’ll use PTO during the STD waiting period.
- Next: STD covers your recovery period (usually four to six weeks).
- Then: Paid Parental Leave kicks in for bonding time — up to four weeks at 100% base pay.
This combination ensures you have financial support during recovery and quality time with your new baby.
- Why You’ll Love It
-
This is your time to bond, cuddle and enjoy those first smiles. We’ll keep your benefits active while you’re away, so you can focus on what matters most — your growing family.
- How to Request
-
Give your leader 30 days’ notice (or as soon as you can) and apply through Workday. We’ll guide you every step of the way.
