How to Contribute to Your HSA

Once you enroll in the Health Savings Plan, you can set up your Health Savings Account (HSA) with Optum Financial — and start saving for today and tomorrow.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • 2026 annual contribution limits:
    • $4,400 for individual coverage
    • $8,750 for family or other coverage
(These amounts include any AdventHealth contribution, if you’re eligible.)
  • Catch-up contributions: If you’re 55 or older, you can add an extra $1,000.
  • Flexibility: You can change your HSA contribution anytime through Workday, and there’s no minimum contribution required.

Your HSA is a simple way to save tax-free and plan ahead for health care costs — now and in the future.

Saving for the Future

Your HSA isn’t just for today — it’s a powerful way to plan ahead. While you can use it to cover health care costs now, you can also grow your savings for the long term.

Here’s how:

  • Your balance rolls over every year: There’s no “use it or lose it” rule.
  • Invest when you’re ready: Once your HSA reaches $1,000, you can start investing in mutual funds — with no transaction fees.
  • Protect your savings: Add or update your beneficiaries to give your loved one's peace of mind.

Think of your HSA as a flexible tool for both short-term needs and future health care security.

Important HSA Eligibility Requirements

To contribute to a Health Savings Account (HSA), you’ll need to meet these requirements in addition to enrolling in the Health Savings Plan:

  • You (or your spouse, if you have family coverage) cannot have other health coverage.
  • You cannot have a Medical Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Reimbursement Account (HRA).
  • You are not enrolled in Medicare, Medicaid or Tricare.
  • You are not claimed as a dependent on someone else’s tax return.
  • You have not received care from the VA in the past three months.
  • You must have a physical mailing address (not a P.O. Box).

First-time HSA enrollment?
You’ll receive a notice from Optum Financial to complete a Customer Identification Program (CIP). If this step isn’t completed, your HSA will be closed and funds reimbursed — so be sure to follow through.

AdventHealth's Contribution

If you’re a full-time team member earning less than $21 per hour and choose the Health Savings Plan, AdventHealth will help you save by contributing to your HSA:

  • $1,000 if you enroll for individual coverage
  • $2,000 if you cover any dependents

These contributions are paid in quarterly installments:

  • $250 for individual coverage
  • $500 for coverage with dependents

Important:

  • There are no retroactive contributions, so the total amount you receive depends on when you enroll.
  • To receive contributions, enroll by these dates:
