-
In 2027, you’ll have more opportunities to use your Health Savings Account (HSA) to support your health today and save for future health care expenses.
Start Investing Sooner
The minimum balance required to begin investing your HSA funds is decreasing from $1,000 to $500, giving you the opportunity to start investing sooner.
Save More with Higher Contribution Limits
The annual HSA contribution limits are increasing to:
- $4,500 for single coverage
- $9,000 for family coverage
These limits include the combined total of your contributions and any contributions you receive from AdventHealth.

The hourly pay threshold is increasing from less than $21 per hour to less than $23 per hour, allowing more eligible team members to receive an AdventHealth HSA contribution:
- $1,000 for single coverage
- $2,000 for family coverage
AdventHealth contributions will be made quarterly. If you qualify for an AdventHealth contribution, consider this amount when deciding how much to contribute so you don’t exceed the annual IRS limit.

-
If an illness or injury prevents you from working, voluntary Short-Term Disability Insurance can provide financial support while you focus on your health and recovery.
- Beginning January 1, 2027, the plan’s pre-existing condition provision will be removed. This means an illness or injury you had or received treatment for before your coverage began will no longer be excluded under this provision for claims beginning on or after January 1, 2027. All other plan requirements will continue to apply.
- The cost of coverage will also change, with premiums increasing by 2%.
Together, these updates provide broader protection and added peace of mind when you need support most.

Additional Benefits for 2027
We’ve bolded the 2027 changes to make them easy to find — everything else stays the same.
Explore each benefit offering by clicking the tabs below to learn more.
Your 2027 Supplemental Insurance Plans
Additional support when life takes an unexpected turn. Supplemental insurance can help ease the financial pressure of an accident, hospital stay or serious illness by providing benefits you can use where they’re needed most — from medical expenses to everyday household costs.
Accident Insurance
Accidents can happen anytime. Accident Insurance provides cash benefits directly to you for covered injuries and related treatment, helping you manage expenses that may arise after an unexpected accident.
In 2027, you’ll receive:
- Enhanced benefits for 12 covered services, including emergency care, urgent care, imaging, rehabilitation and brain injury treatment
- 5% lower rates
These enhancements provide more support across both the Low and High plan options.
Critical Illness Insurance
A serious diagnosis can affect more than your health. Critical Illness Insurance provides a lump-sum benefit directly to you following the diagnosis of a covered condition, giving you added financial flexibility during a challenging time.
In 2027, the plan includes enhanced benefits for five covered conditions:
- Addison’s disease: Increased from 25% to 50%
- Lupus: Increased from 25% to 50%
- Myasthenia gravis: Increased from 25% to 50%
- Multiple sclerosis: Increased from 50% to 100%
- Sudden cardiac arrest: Increased from 50% to 100%
Rates will remain unchanged across all three plan options: $10,000, $20,000 and $30,000.
Hospital Indemnity Insurance
A hospital stay can bring unexpected expenses, even when you have medical coverage. Hospital Indemnity Insurance provides a benefit directly to you when you experience a covered hospital stay or related care. You can use the benefit to help with out-of-pocket medical costs, transportation, childcare, household bills or other expenses while you recover.
There are no plan changes for 2027.
Your 2027 Disability Insurance
Short-Term Disability
Beginning January 1, 2027, the pre-existing condition provision will be removed from the voluntary Short-Term Disability plan.
The change is based on the date your disability begins — not when you submit your claim:
- If your disability begins on or before December 31, 2026, your claim will be reviewed under the plan provisions in effect at that time, including the applicable pre-existing condition provision.
- If your disability begins on or after January 1, 2027, the pre-existing condition provision will not apply to your eligible claim.
Due to this change, Short-Term Disability premiums will also increase by 2% for 2027.

Your 2027 Pet & Identity Theft Benefits
Pets are family, and protecting your personal information matters. Beginning January 1, 2027, Pet Wellness, Pet Insurance and Identity Theft Protection will be offered through Benefit Extras powered by Corestream.

Instead, you’ll enroll directly through Benefit Extras powered by Corestream. Premiums will be set up through direct billing rather than deducted from your paycheck.

You may still need to take action. Even if you’re keeping your current benefits, review your options and complete any required steps during Open Enrollment.
If you’re enrolled in an AdventHealth medical plan, you must complete the annual tobacco-use attestation for yourself and any covered spouse. If you don’t complete the attestation, the applicable tobacco-use surcharge will apply.
You must also make a new election each year if you want to contribute to a Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA). These elections do not carry forward automatically.

- How do the Traditional Plan and Health Savings Plan compare?
-
Both plans include medical and prescription drug coverage, but they differ in how and when you pay for care.
With the Traditional Plan, you’ll generally pay a copay for many services. The Health Savings Plan has a higher deductible, so you’ll typically pay the full cost of eligible medical care and prescriptions until you meet that deductible. Certain preventive services and medications may be covered differently.
The Health Savings Plan also lets you contribute to a Health Savings Account (HSA). An HSA offers tax advantages and can help you save for eligible health care expenses. The money rolls over from year to year and stays with you, even if you change jobs or health plans.
When choosing a plan, consider more than the cost from each paycheck. Compare the deductible, copays or coinsurance, out-of-pocket maximum and how often you expect to use health care. The right choice depends on your needs, budget and preferences.
- How does the Select Plan work?
-
The Select Plan may be a good fit if you want coordinated care, lower out-of-pocket costs for many services and are comfortable receiving care from participating AdventHealth and Aetna Select providers.
Unlike the Traditional and Health Savings Plans, the Select Plan does not include Tier 2 coverage. You and your covered dependents must use participating in-network providers and facilities for covered care, except in an emergency.
The plan also includes a dedicated Care Concierge who can help you:
- Find in-network providers
- Schedule primary care and specialist appointments
- Coordinate care and health screenings
- Connect with Virtual Primary Care
- Get support from health and benefits experts
Before enrolling, confirm that the providers and facilities you prefer are included in the Select Plan network.
- Is the Select Plan available where I live?
-
The Select Plan is available to team members whose home address is in an eligible service area.
Florida: Flagler, Hardee, Highlands, Hillsborough, Lake, Marion, Orange, Osceola, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, Seminole and Volusia counties.
Colorado: Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, Denver, Douglas, Elbert and Jefferson counties.
A complete list of eligible ZIP codes is available in Workday.
Important: If you cover dependents who live outside the Select Plan service area — such as a child attending college in another state — the Select Plan may not be the best fit. Tier 2 and out-of-network services are not covered under the plan.
- Are there participation requirements for the Select Plan?
-
Yes. The Select Plan includes participation requirements that help you stay connected with your care team and support your preventive health.
By June 30, you — and your covered spouse, if applicable — must each:
- Choose a Primary Care Physician (PCP)
- Register for an AdventHealth account
- Visit your PCP for any reason
If you or your covered spouse do not complete all three requirements by the deadline, a monthly surcharge will be added to your Select Plan premium:
- $200 per month if the team member does not complete the requirements
- $200 per month if the covered spouse does not complete the requirements
- $400 per month if neither completes the requirements
Covered children are not subject to the surcharge.
Your Care Concierge and care management team, when applicable, are available to help you complete these requirements and access the care you need.
- Do I choose Tier 1 or Tier 2 when I enroll in a medical plan?
-
No. When you enroll in the Traditional Plan or Health Savings Plan, you choose the medical plan — not a network tier. The tier is determined by the provider you see and the facility where you receive care, and it affects how much you pay.
- Tier 1 — AdventHealth & Friends: Shown as “Maximum Savings” when you search for providers and facilities. This tier includes AdventHealth and other participating Tier 1 providers and facilities.
- Tier 2 — Aetna Network: Shown as “Standard Savings” when you search for providers and facilities. This tier includes participating providers and facilities in the Aetna network.
Before receiving care, confirm the tier for both the provider and the facility so you have a clearer understanding of your expected costs.
The Select Plan only includes participating AdventHealth and Aetna Select providers and does not offer Tier 2 coverage.
- How are an HSA and an FSA different?
-
Both accounts let you set aside money before taxes to help pay for eligible expenses, but they have different eligibility and rollover rules.
Health Savings Account (HSA)
An HSA is available to eligible team members enrolled in the Health Savings Plan. The money belongs to you and rolls over from year to year, so you can use it for eligible health care expenses now or save it for the future.Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
An FSA lets you set aside money before taxes for eligible expenses during the plan year. AdventHealth offers two types:- A Medical FSA for eligible health care expenses
- A Child/Eldercare FSA for eligible dependent care expenses
FSAs are generally subject to “use it or lose it” rules, although a limited amount of unused Medical FSA funds may carry over to the next plan year.
Good to know: If you enroll in the Health Savings Plan and are eligible for an HSA, you cannot also enroll in the Medical FSA. You may still be eligible to enroll in the Child/Eldercare FSA. You must make a new HSA or FSA election each year because your election does not automatically carry forward.
- Are Pet Benefits and Identity Theft Protection going away?
-
No. These benefits will continue to be available, but enrollment and billing are changing for 2027.
Your current Pet Benefits and Identity Theft Protection coverage will remain active through December 31, 2026. Beginning January 1, 2027, Pet Benefits and Identity Theft Protection will be offered through Benefits Extras powered by Corestream.
They will not appear as enrollment options in Workday during Open Enrollment, so you do not need to take action in Workday at this time. However, existing participants must enroll again through Corestream if they want coverage in 2027.
Watch for a separate communication in January with information about available options, costs and how to enroll. If you enroll, Corestream will bill you directly instead of deducting the cost from your AdventHealth paycheck.
- Can I change my benefits after Open Enrollment?
-
Your Open Enrollment elections generally remain in effect for the entire plan year. However, you may be able to update certain benefits if you experience a qualifying life event, such as:
- Getting married or divorced
- Having or adopting a child
- Gaining or losing other benefit coverage
Any changes you make must be consistent with the qualifying life event. Be sure to report the event within the required timeframe and provide supporting documentation, if requested. If you miss the deadline, you may need to wait until the next Open Enrollment period to make changes.
Take a Moment to Update Your Beneficiaries
Open Enrollment is a good time to review your beneficiary information. Keeping your beneficiary information current helps ensure your benefits go exactly where you intend and gives your loved ones greater peace of mind.
Open Enrollment is October 7–28
