AdventHealth Winter Garden unveils $145 million hospital expansion

WINTER GARDEN, Fla. — A major expansion at AdventHealth Winter Garden will add three floors to the hospital's patient tower and bring additional women's services to West Orange County. This $145 million investment will address the increasing demand for complex care within the community.

Construction, which will start later this summer, will add 40 new progressive care unit beds, obstetrics and gynecology (including labor and delivery). One floor will be dedicated to labor and delivery, and will include nine labor, delivery, and recovery beds, 10 postpartum beds, two C-section operating rooms, and future space for a level two Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The tower's expansion will also add space for more operating rooms, and a shell floor with capacity for 40 beds.

“Winter Garden continues to grow, and we are excited to provide additional health care services to meet the fast-growing needs of the community,” said Kari Vargas, CEO of AdventHealth Winter Garden. “In addition to expanding our patient tower, we are growing critical services to join our robust network of connected care that we’re providing to this community. We want to make it easy for our consumers to receive world-class health care in a setting that is close to home.”

Each year, more than 6,000 babies are born to families in West Orange and South Lake counties, according to the Agency for Healthcare Administration (AHCA). The majority of deliveries take place outside the area.

“Knowing you can count on highly qualified physicians and midwives to be here whenever the baby is ready to make their appearance helps moms feel safe and supported in what could be an exciting and overwhelming time,” said Dr. Ashley Hill, medical director of obstetrics and gynecology at AdventHealth in Central Florida. “Bringing labor and delivery services to the Winter Garden community solidifies our promise of whole-person care for our moms and babies of this growing community.”

For Bailey and Greg Ringering, new parents and residents of West Orange County, the news of the expansion and additional women’s services is exciting.

“We have been going together to all my prenatal appointments, and all of them have been at AdventHealth Winter Garden, which is where I work so that’s really special,” said Bailey Ringering, team member at the hospital. “We delivered at AdventHealth Orlando, and had a great experience. But it’s 30 minutes away, so it will be nice to have a place so close to home for our future needs.”

The approximately 105,000-square-foot expansion will be completed in 2026. As a result of the hospital expansion, over 100 new high-paying jobs will be created.
